Italy and the Roma Minority

Several recent cases have highlighted the struggle facing Roma in Italy. Roma camps in Southern Italy were torched in May. And recent plans announced by the Italian government were considered discriminatory against Roma - including plans to fingerprint and photograph all Roma youth. The campaign is described by the Italian government as a fight against crime and illegal immigration.
